Lactation Support

Lactation support, and the main ingredients we chose to help mom boost her milk supply.

For a lot of women, the thought of breastfeeding is scary, especially for first-time moms. You can read all of the books in the world, but until the day comes, you won't fully know what to do. This principle goes for most of parenting, and getting thrown into the deep end will be your best way of learning. One of the main areas of fear is not just on how to breastfeed, but not having enough milk to support your growing child (or children). Some moms may decide to go right to bottle feeding, and you notice that each pumping session there seems to be a little less milk. As a mother what do you do? You can start to supplement with formula, which is fine, but you wanted to try and do this all on your own. You know that nothing can replicate breastmilk, so you want to try everything you can before going down that route. This is why we created a supplement to help aid in the development of natural breast milk, and help boost your supply.

The main ingredient in our Lactation Support is Fenugreek. Fenugreek is an herb that grows about 2 to 3 feet high. It has tiny, white flowers and each green leaf divides into three smaller leaves. You probably have come across fenugreek without knowing it: The herb has a maple-like taste that’s used to add flavor to artificial maple syrup, and the ground seeds are used in curries. It has been used for centuries across many cultures, and for good reason! There are studies showing fenugreek being able to boost your milk supply within a few days, and many women will tell you that it has been a game-changer for them. Fenugreek is believed to increase the production of breast milk due to an effect on the stimulation of sweat production, and mammary glands are sweat glands that have been altered by hormonal stimulation. Fenugreek is also commonly used to regulate blood sugar levels in individuals with diabetes

The next prominent ingredient in our Lactation Support is Milk Thistle. Milk thistle is an herbal medicine derived from the milk thistle plant, also known as Silybum marianum. This prickly plant has notable purple flowers and white veins, which traditional stories say were created by a drop of the Virgin Mary’s milk dropping onto its leaves. The active ingredients in milk thistle are a group of plant mixtures collectively known as silymarin. The silymarin obtained from milk thistle is known to have antioxidant, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties. Milk Thistle is known to aid in many different ailments ranging from protecting your liver to improving age-related brain function, but for this post, I will only focus on its breast milk boosting benefits. Although there aren't tons of science behind the reasons why milk thistle boosts milk supply, there are more than enough testimonials throughout history to prove its effectiveness. In the few studies around its benefits in milk production, it’s thought to work by making more of the milk-producing hormone prolactin. The data is very limited, but one randomized controlled study found that mothers taking 420 mg of silymarin for 63 days produced 64% more milk than those taking a placebo

The final ingredient we will be looking at is Asparagus extract. When sourcing ingredients we look at many different properties; from where they came from, the benefits they offer, are they natural, and do they lower inflammation. Our team believes that many of the health issues we face starts with the body fighting inflammation. One of the key benefits of asparagus is that its high in antioxidants which help lower the body's inflammation. Asparagus is especially high in the flavonoids quercetin, isorhamnetin, and kaempferol, these substances have been found to have blood pressure-lowering, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and anticancer effects in several human, test-tube, and animal studies. Asparagus is also a vegetable that is low in gas, but high in fiber, which is great for milk production. Asparagus is high in Vitamin A and K and will also stimulate some of the hormones that are essential to you when you are breastfeeding.

The bottom line regarding our lactation support is that you will benefit in more than one way. Whether an improved mood, healthier bones, and joints (form the calcium) or increased milk supply this product will create a happier momma. We know that parenting is stressful, and there's only so much that can be done on our own, which is why we wanted to create products that would naturally help mom out along her journey. As we say about all of our products, don't just take our word for it, go out and do your research and come back once you see lean about the benefits. What we can provide is peace of mind that our ingredients are pure, and carefully picked out--this way once you know the benefits, you won't have to worry about anything else.
